How to Make Southern Pulled Pork Bowls

  • Start by trimming excess fat from the pork shoulder, patting it dry, and generously seasoning it with your pulled pork seasoning mix.
  • Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the pork shoulder on all sides until golden-brown, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Transfer the seared pork to a slow cooker and pour BBQ sauce over. Cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours until fork-tender.
  • Using two forks, shred the tender pork in the slow cooker, mixing it well with the sauce.
  • Cook rice or quinoa according to package instructions and chop your fresh vegetables.
  • Layer a bowl with rice or quinoa at the bottom, top with shredded pulled pork, fresh veggies, avocado, and lime juice.
