  • 1 lb Ground Beef lean ground beef is recommended
  • 2 cups Cooked White Rice day-old rice works best
  • 10.5 oz Condensed French Onion Soup homemade can be used
  • 1 cup Sour Cream Greek yogurt can be used as a substitute
  • 1 cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese Gruyère or provolone can be used
  • 2 tbsp Butter can substitute with olive oil
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • 2 tbsp Chopped Parsley for garnish

Preparation Steps

  • In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula, and cook until browned, which should take about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat for a healthier dish.
  • Stir in the onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well for about 2 minutes to let the spices bloom.
  • In a mixing bowl, stir together the cooked beef, rice, condensed French onion soup, and sour cream. Mix until everything is well blended.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Spread the beef and rice mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese generously on top. Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  • Once baked, remove from the oven and garnish with fresh parsley. Serve hot.
