  • 1 pound Fresh Green Beans trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter can be substituted with olive oil
  • 8 ounces Sliced White Mushrooms or substitute with cremini mushrooms
  • 1 medium Onion chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream can be replaced with coconut cream
  • 1 cup Chicken or Vegetable Broth opt for low-sodium varieties
  • 2 tablespoons Soy Sauce or tamari for gluten-free option
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Black Pepper
  • 1 cup French-Fried Onions can be homemade
  • 1 cup Gruyère Cheese optional
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh Thyme optional; substitute with dried thyme if needed

Instructions
 

How to Make

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Blanch the green beans in boiling salted water for 5 minutes; then drain and cool in an ice bath.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter and sauté the chopped onions until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add in the minced garlic and sliced mushrooms; cook for another 3-4 minutes.
  • Stir in the heavy cream, broth, soy sauce, salt, and pepper into the skillet; let it simmer until slightly thickened, about 3-5 minutes.
  • Mix the blanched green beans with the mushroom sauce, folding in Gruyère cheese if using.
  • Spread the mixture into a baking dish and top it with crispy French-fried onions.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until bubbling and golden brown.
  • Garnish with fresh thyme before serving, if desired.

Notes

Feel free to customize the dish by adding Gruyère cheese or substituting ingredients as needed.
